~게 하다 (Make SB do something)

게 하다 = Make SB do something

 

This Korean grammar is used when the speaker wants to make the other party do something, or wants to make the other party be in a certain situation. It is attached to action verbs.

 

Example of 게 하다:

  • 제임스 씨는 항상 나를 화나게 한다 = This person always makes me angry.
  • 어렸을 때 어머니는 음악 소리를 크고 못 보게 하셨다. My mother didn’t let us listen to loud music.
  • 선생님 오랫동안 기다리게 해서 마안했다. I felt sorry for letting my teacher wait for a long time.
